Day 01: Arrival in Paro and transfer to Thimphu(60kms and 1 hr drive)
Once you land at the Paro International Airport(2250mtrs), you will be well received by our Professional Tour Guide and Driver.
After that, proceed to Thimphu visiting a few places on the way:
Tachog Monastery and Iron Bridge: Viewing from a hilltop, this Monastery was built in the 15th century by a great spiritual master Thang Thong Gyelpo. In addition, he also built an Iron Bridge which your guide will show you on the way to the Monastery. After the Monastery, continue till the mid-way where you will witness the confluence of two rivers, “Pa Chu” and “Wang Chu” accompanied by three different types of Stupas (Tibetan, Bhutanese, and Nepalese). After a short walk, continue your journey till you reach Thimphu(Capital City of Bhutan).
After the arrival, have lunch/snacks and explore the Capital City on foot. Evening visit Tashichho Dzong(Fortress): Built in the 17th Century by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal(First Governor of Bhutan), it is divided into two parts: Administrative block and Monastic block. It also houses the throne room of His Majesty the King of Bhutan. Moreover, the annual Festival “Tshechu” is also celebrated at this Fortress. Overnight stay in Thimphu.
Day 02: Thimphu to Tsirang (160kms and 5 hrs drive)
After breakfast proceed towards Tsirang(1400mtrs) while visiting the following places:
Dochula Pass(30mins): On the way to Tsirang, stop at Dochu La Pass(3150m) to witness the 108 stupas built in 2003 by the Queen Mother. Additionally, you will also have a view of the Himalayan Mountain Ranges if the weather is clear. Here you can explore some of the birds like Gold-billed Magpie, Rufous-breasted Bush Robin, Grey-winged Blackbird, Black-eared Shrike Babblers, Fire-tailed Myzornis, etc.
After exploring Dochula Pass, proceed further towards Tsirang and visit Rigsum Pemai Dumra– A Recreational park in Damphu town, Tsirang. Here you can relax and enjoy the nature with the locals. Overnight stay in Tsirang.
Day 03: Bird Watching in Tsirang
Here you will spot birds like Jungle Babbler, Oriental Turtle Dove, Common Myna, Common Redstart, Long Tail Turtle Dove, Paddy Field Pipit, Spotted Forktail, Blue Whistling Thrush, , Black Eagle, Grey Treepie, etc. Overnight stay in Tsirang.
Day 04: Tsirang to Punakha (100kms and 3 hrs drive)
As you drive towards Punakha explore some of the birds like White Bellied Heron, River Lapwing, Water Plumbous Redstart, Brown Dipper, etc. in Sunkosh River. Overnight stay in Punakha
Day 05: Bird Watching in Punakha(1350mtrs)
Explore Tashithang – Here you will find birds like Barred Cuckoo Dove, Great Cormorant, Magpie Robin, Osprey, River Lapwing, Palla’s Fish Eagle, Mallard Duck, Common Merganser, Ruddy Shelduck, Pied Kingfisher, Kalij Pheasant, Orange-bellied Leaf Bird, Red-vented Bulbul, Common Buzzard, Crested Bunting, White Crested Kingfisher, Great Barbet, etc.
Explore Pho Chu River– Here you will find birds like White- bellied Heron, Pallas’s Fish Eagle, Owlet, Osprey, White- throated Fantail, Speckled Piculet, Yellow-bellied Fantail, etc. Overnight in Punakha
Day 06: Punakha to Phobjikha (80kms and 2hrs drive)
Drive towards Phobjikha while bird watching on the way:
Explore Nobding- Here you will find birds like Blue-capped Rock Thrush, Yellow- bellied Fantail, Yellow-rumped Honey guide, Scarlet minivet, Fire-tailed Myzornis, etc.
Explore Pele La Pass– Here you will find birds like Himalayan Monal, Satyr Tragopan, Blood Pheasant, Brown Parrot bill, Yellowish-bellied Bush Warbler, Maroon-backed Accentor, etc.
Explore Phobjikha– Here you will find birds like Fire-tailed Sunbird, Alpine Accentor, Rufous-vented Yuhina, Black-faced Laughing Thrush, Whiskered Yuhina, Scaly Thrush, Tickell’s Thrush, Green-tailed Sunbird, Fire-capped Tit, Amur Falcon, Blue Rock Thrush, Black-billed Magpie, Spotted Laughing Thrush, Himalayan Griffon, Fire-breasted Flower Pecker, Red billed Chough, Spotted Nutcracker, etc. Overnight stay in Phobjikha(2900mtrs).
Day 07: Phobjikha to Paro (180kms and 5hrs drive)
Drive back towards Paro while bird watching on the way:
Explore Royal Botanical Park– Here you will find birds like Eurasian Jay, Great Parrotbill, Spotted Laughing Thrush, Streak-breasted Scimitar Babbler, Darjeeling Woodpecker, Strong-footed Bush Warbler, Chestnut-crowned, etc.
Explore Pa Chu– Here you will find birds like Brown Dipper, White-capped Water Redstart, Ibisbill, Plumbeous Water Redstart, etc. Overnight stay in Paro(2250mtrs).
Day 08: Bird Watching in Paro
Explore Chele La Pass-(Highest Motorable Pass-3988mtrs)– Here you will find birds like Himalayan Monal, Blood Pheasant, Kalij Pheasent, White-winged Grosbeak, Fire-tailed Sunbird, Beautiful Rosefinch, Collared Grosbeak, Cold Tit, Grey Bushchat, etc. Overnight stay in Paro
Day 09: Taktsang(Tiger’s Nest) Hike while bird watching on the way.
Early morning Hike to Tiger’s Nest: It takes about 5-6 hours to complete the hike covering about 7km at a height of 850m from the base. It is a must-visit/the main highlight of Bhutan. Therefore, your tour to Bhutan is incomplete without the Tiger’s Nest Hike. In addition, you will also find birds like Yellow-bellied Blue Magpie, Snow Pigeon, Rufous Sibia, White Throated Laughing Thrush, etc. Therefore, bird watching while hiking Taktsang is great treat to your Bird Watching Tour.
